McKinney woman marks 106 years with Salvation Army donation

For McKinney resident Lucille Oltion, her 106th birthday was not just another day but a chance to give back to an organization that supported her and those around her throughout her life.

Born March 14, 1920, near Hammond, La., Oltion celebrated her birthday by facilitating a $2,106 donation to the McKinney Salvation Army Corps Community Center, choosing to share her birthday fortune with the organization.

Oltion's 106 years have been marked by determination and perspective, having lived through significant world events like World War II, the civil rights movement, the first moon landing, and the rise of technology, computers, and the internet.
